‘The Weaver’s Loom’ is a bespoke loom intended to bring to light the embodied labor of a weaver and their loom during the process of weaving. Weaving is a physically strenuous craft where muscle memory extensively contributes to the process. In the times of automation, censorship, and questions around authorship, ‘The Weaver’s Loom’ is a tool that emphasizes the process over outcome. The loom and the shuttle that weaves are embedded with sensors that remember the labor of the weaver and their tools. These remembered movements can be experienced as audio visual representations and can express different weaves as different multi-sensorial experiences.
