UNSETTLED
UNSETTLED is an immersive installation that transforms the dynamics of migration into a spatial and sensory experience. The project approaches migration not as a distant geopolitical issue, but as a fundamental process that shapes both human lives and marine ecosystems. The ocean serves as the conceptual framework: a fluid, unstable environment where movement is constant and no presence is ever neutral. Inside the installation, the visitor becomes an agent of disturbance. Their body triggers subtle reactions in the environment, revealing the tensions that arise when something foreign enters a new habitat. These interactions unfold through shifting light, an evolving soundscape, and a sculptural form suspended within the space. Nothing functions as ornament; each element operates as part of a living system negotiating the arrival of an unfamiliar body. The experience is organized in layers that mirror stages of migration: initial friction at the boundaries, tentative exchanges in transitional zones, and moments of shared occupation at the center. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, UNSETTLED invites the visitor to inhabit uncertainty: to sense how a space resists, absorbs, or adapts to what enters it. In this environment, migration becomes palpable: a continuous interplay between movement, perception, and the fragile possibility of belonging.
